What The Pandemic Has Taught Me About Money...
Before the pandemic, I knew that my money had power and who I gave that power to matter, but I still shopped at Amazon and avoided paying more on something local that I could get cheaper from a corporate giant.
The pandemic taught me that my community needs that money more than I need to save $3. I have completely changed my mindset about who I buy from and where I give my power. I have watched businesses I’ve loved (and ones I’ve been ambivalent about) close their doors because they didn’t have the funds or support to keep going. This has been heart breaking to watch and sobering to know that I can make a difference.
Now, I am a small business. I have the first-hand experience of the disco dance that goes into making a sale, or the shimmy of signing a new client. And I’ve seen the hope that keeps small businesses going during trying times. Often, it’s this hope that pushes the owner to reach out to someone like me. Together, we craft a plan for moving forward and reaching new goals.
Before the pandemic, I loved small businesses, but would often give in to the greed of money-saving stores. During the pandemic, I have learned to put my money where my mouth is and honor the power it holds in my community and my friends. Today, I walk my talk and support the goals that I help people achieve.
