Picante: Branding For A Beachy Mexican Food Truck

This branding is for a brief created by Hannah Bacon. Briefs are creative projects with no rules, created by designers for designers to practice their skills. If you are interested in working with me on branding/website design, please apply to work with me here.

The Brand Name: Picante

The Brief: Picante means spicy! This food truck sells Mexican burritos, nachos and tacos by the beach

When I started working on this brief, I knew I wanted it to be colorful and playful. I wanted the design to feel detailed but rustic at the same time.

I started out with a handful of fonts and narrowed it down to Goodlife and Mr Eaves.

For the primary logo, I started out by customizing the a so that the brand would feel more approachable.

Then, I played around with various heights and angles of the letters so it would feel more playful.

I drew out the peppers and added them to the logo. I knew these would be a fun pop of color so I also created a pattern with them.

I played around with some icons to call in the beachyness.

And thus, a brand was born!

This is the final brand board.

When I design brands for my clients, I put together a brand board just like this to showcase the vibe of the brand. Then, once it is approved I export all of the assets so the client has every item in every of the brand’s colors. This allows my clients to seamlessly integrate their branding across platforms and mediums.

My branding process is collaborative and communicative.
