I Believed That My Anxiety Would Bring Me Clients… Spoiler Alert: It Didn’t

I used to think that my thoughts and worries would drive my business. I would spend hours just stressing about my business. And then I’d convince myself that counted as work because at least I was “thinking” about my business. Maybe those thoughts will help manifest more clients and money and success.

If you audibly laughed out loud at the delusional thinking that thoughts of scarcity would equal more success, I’m right there with you. It really is comical now. But back then it really wasn’t…

I believed that the only thing growing my business was my anxiety. I believed that the imposter syndrome and debilitating fear were actually helping me.

I think part of the reason I believed these things is that I was terrified of the alternative. When you have anxiety, stress, imposter syndrome… You have something to hold onto. You have a reason or an excuse for why things aren’t the way they should be. But if you let go of all of that and allow yourself to trust-fall into hope, what do you have when things don’t work out?

Standing here, on the other side of that trust fall—or maybe not the other side but perhaps mid-trust-fall—I can say with confidence that you have a whole lot of everything else.

I feel like my business kind of runs itself. Not in the “everything is automated” way but in the spiritual, manifestation way. I mean, sure, I have many automations and systems in place (self-proclaimed queen of systems here), but what I’m talking about is the trust that I have that everything will work out. When I have a high revenue month I say to myself and my business “Thank you.” And when it’s a low revenue month I say “I trust you.”

Somehow, someway, that has worked.

So here’s the best way I can explain it:

When you spend your time stressing and full of anxiety about all the things that could happen and all the things you should be doing, you prevent things from actually happening. When you allow yourself to receive by trusting the creation of your business to provide, it will. Treating your business with kindness, love, respect, and care means that it will treat you back the same way.

I invite you to acknowledge your business.
